What is raclette?

Raclette is a traditional Swiss dish in which melted cheese is served with potatoes, vegetables, meat, and bread. The name "raclette" comes from the French word "racler", meaning "to scrape", because the melted cheese is traditionally scraped off a large cheese wheel. Today, raclette is often made with a raclette machine, which allows everyone at the table to prepare their own portion of cheese and other ingredients.
